Freda Serrano (Green) Service Information

It is with heart-felt sorrow that we announce the passing of Freda M. Serrano on September 11, 2023. Freda was 88 years old, born to John and Blanche Green on August 10, 1935, in Richmond Virginia.

Residing in Philadelphia from the age of 10. She worked for 10 years as a seamstress until she fulfilled her lifetime passion and became a volunteer for the Philadelphia School district where she quickly became a teacher’s aide fulfilling her dream of working with children.  She later took on additional responsibilities as an after-school care worker for children, all the while raising a son and a daughter of her own.

Survived by her son Juan (Freddy) and his wife, along with her daughter Dena. Also, by 4 grand-children, who were the light of her life, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Freda always enjoyed music, dancing, and eating candy. After retiring from the school board, she enjoyed going to the Atlantic City Casinos, watching her favorite TV shows: “Little house on the Prairie,” “Family Feud,” and “Don’t forget the Lyrics.”

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday September 29, beginning at 10AM  to 12 PM for a time of visitation with the family, followed by a memorial service at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 9304 Old Bustleton Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19115.

We mourn in her passing but rejoice knowing she is in the presence of The Lord.
